Mountain Walking in the Sierra Nevada National Park
Explore the heights of the Sierra Nevada. A guided walking holiday based at Casa Ana, best guest house on the National Park border.
22 – 28 June 2019 (6 nights)
About the holiday
Escape the summer crowds to hike the peaks of the Sierra Nevada. Five days of exhilarating walks take you to altitudes of 3000m+ where the air is sharp and clear and the views, breath-taking.
The week starts with an ascent of Las Alegas at a mere 2700m and your first view of the entire Sierra Nevada ridge. More challenging is the hike to the Siete Lagunas, a ring of ice-blue glacial lakes at 3100m. You’ll climb Europe’s most southerly 3000m peak, the Cerro de Caballo at 3009m, with its views of ravines and gorges and the distant Mediterranean. And for the grand finale, the peak of Mulhacen which at an impressive 3480m is the highest peak in mainland Spain.
The hikes will be led by members of the Spanish Highs professional mountain guiding company. They have years of experience walking, trekking and climbing in the Sierra Nevada and the owner, Richard Hartley is author of the latest Cicerone Guidebook “Walking and Trekking in the Sierra Nevada”.
After a bracing day in the mountains, take off those boots at Casa Ana and relax with a hot shower, an iced beer, a fantastic dinner laid on by our fabulous chef and a super-comfortable bed for the night.
